Areni

Areni is a small but famous village in the Vayots Dzor region, widely known as the wine capital of Armenia. It’s home to the country’s finest wine producers, especially those cultivating the native Areni Noir grape. The village is nestled among rocky canyons on the road to the Noravank Monastery.

Key attractions include local wineries, the annual wine festival, and the Areni Cave, where archaeologists discovered the world’s oldest known winery and leather shoe — over 5,000 years old. Areni is perfect for culinary travelers and wine lovers.
